Shettleston History Project visit to Glasgow Museums stores, Nitshill
Our visit to the Museum started off with a lovely bright day and Katy and Clark from Northlight Heritage arranging the taxis to take us there.
It was a bit strange-looking from the outside compared to other museums we have visited, however we got a nice welcome when we got there from the staff and then we got a tour of the museum which started off with us going to the lockers as it was high security and then we were off to visit the pods as they were called. This is where they kept all the items from other museums and places that were overcrowded with valuable artefacts. However, I think we would have needed more time as there were a good number of pods, the pods we went to see were filled with interesting things such as paintings, engines, and lots of pottery: so much to take in.
We were amazed at the size of the place and the volume of items there and would like to visit again to see what else they have there.
Tony says that he would have liked to have seen more tiles as he used to work with tiles in his profession as a stone mason but he enjoyed the visit.
Liz says it was fascinating and they made us welcome there and I would go back like a shot as there was so much to see.
Rose says she enjoyed the visit but she was disappointed that there was not more about Shettleston for us to see.
Kristine says very interesting, made me want to see lots more especially the watercolours, can we have another visit.
Dorothy enjoyed the visit too but she is away down south so I will get her views later.
